Biography

Full Name: Helon Habila

Helon Habila Ngalabak is a Nigerian novelist and poet, whose writing has won many prizes, including the Caine Prize in 2001. His literary works include: Oil on Water, Measuring Time, Waiting for an Angel, Travellers and The Chibok Girls. He worked as a lecturer and journalist in Nigeria before moving in to England, where he was a Chevening Scholar at the University of East Anglia. He is a professor of creative writing at George Mason University and lives in Virginia with his wife and three children.
