Chinelo Okparanta

Chinelo Okparanta was born in Port Harcout, Nigeria. She is the author of the short story collection Happiness, Like Water and the novels Under the Udala Trees and Harry Sylvester Bird. She is an O. Henry award winner, has won the Lambda Literary Award twice , and was selected as one of Granta’s Best of Young American Novelists. She is Associate Professor of English and Director of the Creative Writing Program at Swarthmore College.
